Lingnan University
Hong Kong, China
With around 3,000 enrolled students, Lingnan University in Hong Kong is a very small university, especially by Chinese standards, and places particular emphasis on providing excellent academic support. The range of disciplines offered focuses on the humanities and includes history, literature, visual studies, cultural studies, philosophy, and social and political sciences. All courses offered at the university (taught in English) are open to international guest students. While the university as a whole does not currently appear among the TOP 100 in the world, individual faculties do occupy top rankings. The university’s ambitious plans are also reflected in the excellent infrastructure provided by the new campus built in 1995 and the comfortable residence halls with guaranteed space for international students – a factor that should not be underestimated in one of the world’s most densely populated cities.
